Reunion in Queens for Beau Bichette and Marcus Semien

Beau Bichette is set to reunite with Marcus Semien as he joins the Mets. Semien, who played for the Blue Jays during the 2021 season, previously made a significant impact on Bichette’s career.

In a postgame press conference after the 2021 season, Bichette expressed deep appreciation for Semien, which suggests he’s looking forward to working with him again. When asked about the influence Semien had on him, he simply said, “Everything. He is very important to me.”

This winter, Semien signed a hefty seven-year, $175 million deal with the Rangers after spending his first season in Toronto. Before that, he had inked a one-year, $18 million contract with the Blue Jays. That year turned out to be a remarkable one for both players.

Bichette, now in his third major league season, was named to his first All-Star team, achieving 29 home runs and 102 RBIs, along with leading the American League with 191 hits.

Semien had an even more illustrious year. He finished with a .265 batting average, 45 home runs, and 102 RBIs, earning a third-place finish in AL MVP voting. Additionally, he made his first All-Star team and bagged a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger Award as a second baseman.

The Blue Jays wrapped up the season with a solid 91 wins but narrowly missed the playoffs, primarily due to the intense competition in the American League East.

This offseason, both Bichette and Semien made their way to the Mets. Back in November, the Mets traded Brandon Nimmo to Texas for Semien, citing better fit both on the field and in the clubhouse. Recently, Bichette also joined the team, signing a three-year, $126 million contract, which includes options to opt out in the first two years.
