BOB RUBIN: Celebrities Do Not Have The Political Star Power They Thought They Did

oprah winfrey's hypocrisy and Robert De Niro's suggestion that he might Leaving the United States is a reminder that, at the end of the day, celebrities are just people and don't understand the political landscape any better than anyone else.

Their declarations of doom and gloom are noise in a country tired of being talked down to. For years, celebrities have wielded their platforms like megaphones to sway voters and shape public opinion.

But despite their drama and declarations, their power as political stars appears to be waning.

Take Oprah Winfrey, for example, whose organization was exposed and embroiled in controversy. accepted considerable amount Hold a town hall with Vice President Kamala Harris. But now critics are left wondering, “Was that the case with Oprah's work?” approval Will it even move the needle for voters? Was anyone really worried about Harris, who decided, “If Oprah is in it, so am I?''

As a result, trust in celebrity endorsements will only further erode.

Then there are celebrity escape plans. For example, Robert De Niro proposed If Trump wins in 2016, he may leave the United States.

But what's really funny is the hypocrisy of countless celebrities who shouted in 2016, “If Trump wins, I'm out of here!” shale and others They were loud and proud of their disdain for Trump's presidency. But when that moment came, they stayed there, clinging to their US mansion rather than booking a flight to Canada.

The question arises, why the double standard? If America under Trump is as bad as they claim, why not leave? Or do they know, deep down, that there is no better place to live than the United States?

Celebrity threats of deportation have become as predictable as standing ovations at awards shows. These threats serve more as performative gestures aimed at energizing social media followers than genuine beliefs. But the average American sees through it.

To most working-class voters, celebrity complaints from those who enjoy wealth and freedom ring hollow. Robert De Niro's idea became famous describe It's almost comical that a gritty, tough character might be so hurt by the election result that he might move abroad.

Furthermore, the idea that these stars believe their opinions are more important than the average American's is a clear example of Hollywood elitism. Their declarations of moral superiority may resonate in the echo chambers of coastal cities, but they are just noise to the rest of the country.

And here's the kicker: President-elect Donald Trump is currently X's followers increase Even more so than Taylor Swift, one of the biggest pop stars on the planet. The fact that President Trump has surpassed the ultimate celebrity in social media influence shows that America is not as obsessed with Hollywood elites as it once was.

Even bigger questions are emerging. Do celebrity endorsements matter in politics anymore? Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign certainly thought so when it tapped Oprah, but the results suggest otherwise. Harris' historic unpopularity was not enhanced by her celebrity star power.

In fact, it's safe to say that Hollywood's endorsement may do more harm than good. Many Americans see them as out-of-touch, selfish, or even condescending. After all, why should a millionaire actor or singer have more influence over an election than a small business owner in Ohio or a teacher in Texas?

With Trump's return to the White House shocking liberals, it may be time for Hollywood to take a hard look in the mirror. Their star power no longer carries the political weight it once did. Americans are increasingly skeptical of people who claim to speak for the “common man,” whether they live in gated communities or vacation in the south of France.

The truth is, America isn't perfect, but it's far from the dystopian nightmare that Hollywood claims it would be under conservative leadership. And maybe, just maybe, it's time for these celebrities to stick to what they do best: entertain and leave politics to the people.
