Bobby Flay Remembers Anne Burrell Following Her Passing
Celebrity chef Bobby Flay has paid tribute to his friend and fellow Food Network star, Anne Burrell, who passed away unexpectedly on June 17th at the age of 55.
Flay, 60, took to social media to express his sorrow over her death. He noted in an Instagram story that Burrell brought joy to audiences through her show, saying, “‘Worst Cook’ was the most entertaining show on TV. All of your co-hosts (including me) were lined up for Anne Burrell Ride.”
Burrell was found unconscious at her home in Brooklyn one day after performing in an improv show. Her sudden passing came as a shock to many, including Flay.
Recalling a fond memory, Flay mentioned how Burrell introduced him to the world of Maine Coon cats, saying, “The biggest gift I got from AB was to attract me to the world of Maine Coon Cats (including Nacho)… a gift I have forever.” He recently shared about his love for his own Maine Coon, Stella, in a post that seemed to reflect their shared fondness for these animals.
The two chefs co-hosted “The Worst Cooks in America,” a reality competition that combined culinary challenges with humor and heart since its premiere in 2010.
Details around Burrell’s passing were released on June 18th. Authorities responded to a 911 call early that morning and discovered her unresponsive. The NYPD reported that EMS pronounced her dead at the scene. An investigation is still ongoing to determine the cause of death.
Burrell’s family released a heartfelt statement, saying, “Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend. Her smile brightened up every room she entered. Anne’s light radiates far beyond those she knows, touching millions around the world.” Her warmth and spirit will be remembered by many.
