Actor Bobby J. Brown Passes Away at 62

Bobby J. Brown, who portrayed Officer Bobby Brown in the popular HBO series “The Wire,” has sadly passed away at the age of 62 in a barn fire.

His daughter, as reported by TMZ, mentioned that her father was involved in a horrific fire incident on Tuesday, which led to his death due to smoke inhalation. She expressed her belief that he likely did not feel the intense pain from the burns he suffered. The Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed that the cause of death was due to diffuse thermal injury and smoke inhalation, categorizing his death as an accident.

According to TMZ, the tragic fire erupted when Brown entered the barn to jump-start a vehicle. He swiftly requested a fire extinguisher from his family, but by the time they arrived, the barn had already been consumed by flames.

In an effort to save him, Brown’s wife sustained severe burns.

Brown’s daughter shared that he was a devout Jehovah’s Witness, and the family is planning a funeral soon.

Albert Bramante, Brown’s agent, expressed his sorrow, stating: “I’m upset and sad. He was a very good actor and human being.” He added that Brown was deeply committed to his craft and a joy to collaborate with.

Originally from Washington, DC, Brown appeared in 12 episodes of “The Wire,” and also had notable roles in “Law & Order: SVU” and “We Own This City.” His credits include appearances in “Homicide: Life on the Street” and “The Corner.” Throughout his career, he directed two documentaries centered on the American pit bull Terry: “Off the Chain” and “Tear the Roof Off: The Untold Story of Parliament Funkadelic.”
