No one was happy in his penultimate at-bat of the Yankees' 6-5 victory over the Royals in Game 1 of the ALDS.
Yankees relief pitcher Luke Weaver, who became the team's closer after the season, struck out Royals superstar Bobby Witt Jr. in a dramatic eight-pitch play.
Facing a full count, Weaver threw a 96 mph fastball that appeared to be below the strike zone.
However, home plate umpire Adam Hamari called Witt a strike, making Witt uncomfortable.
Before Hamari could signal a strikeout, he dropped the bat and began running to first base, believing he had earned a walk.
Witt, the main rival of this year's American League MVP Aaron Judge, turned around and had a few words for Hamari.
Before the final pitch, Hamari alerted the Yankees' dugout following his own complaints.
Weaver threw an 89 mph changeup that appeared to be out of the zone, and Hamari ruled it a ball.
But Yankees players voiced their displeasure from the dugout, and Harami later yelled back.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone apparently told his team to stop yelling.
After striking out Witt, Weaver grounded out Vinny Pasquantino to first base to end the game.
Game 2 is scheduled to begin Monday in the Bronx at 7:38 p.m.
