Authorities said Monday they found the bodies of three family members in a Fairbanks home during a welfare inspection.
The body apparently lay there for weeks after the murder/suicide before it was found Sunday evening.
The dead were Linda Dunbar and Wesley Dunbar, both 64, and their daughter Nancy Dunbar, 36, police spokeswoman Thiel Soden told The Associated Press. .

Alaska state police were conducting a welfare search at a Fairbanks home when they found the bodies of three family members who had apparently been shot in a murder-suicide several weeks earlier.
An autopsy will determine the cause of death, but police said a preliminary investigation revealed that they were all shot. A suicide note was found at the scene, according to a statement.
Police believe they know who the family member was responsible for, but have not released that information at this time. Soden said an investigation is ongoing.

Soden said the welfare check was requested by a family acquaintance who had been out of touch for some time.
“Unfortunately, as elsewhere in the country, we’ve seen instances like this where several members of the same family are found dead,” Soden said. Stated. “Usually it doesn’t take more than a few weeks to find out.”
