Man Arrested for Murder of Girlfriend in Charlotte
An undocumented immigrant has been charged with murder following the shooting death of his girlfriend in a Charlotte apartment. Investigators say he concealed her body in a closet.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have apprehended 23-year-old Lis Virito Costa in relation to the death of 26-year-old Evelyn Carolina Enamorado Cisnado. The police were alerted to the apartment in east Charlotte after someone made a welfare check call, suggesting a potential death inside.
What initially began as a routine check transformed into a homicide investigation. When authorities entered the apartment, they discovered Enamorado-Cisnado’s body hidden in a closet, obscured by towels. It was evident that decomposition had started, indicating time had passed since her death.
Court documents indicate that a DoorDash driver, after receiving information about a deceased individual in the apartment, promptly contacted law enforcement.
Costa reportedly admitted to police that he shot Enamorado-Cisnado after discovering she was involved with another person. His arrest followed a search on Wednesday, and he was subsequently taken to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for questioning by homicide detectives.
After his interrogation, Costa was moved to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, where he faced murder charges. At a recent court session, he was ordered to remain in custody without bail while legal proceedings unfold.
The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Costa is still detained and that Immigration and Customs Enforcement has also taken him into custody, signifying that federal authorities will be informed prior to any potential release.
