Authorities say a woman found dead inside baggage claim at a Chicago airport is in an apparent suicide.

Virginia Christine Vinton, 57, was found “trapped” in a machine on a baggage conveyor belt at O’Hare International Airport on Thursday.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the medical examiner’s office determined the cause of death was asphyxiation due to hanging and ruled it a suicide.

Vinton reportedly entered the restricted area just before 2:30 a.m. and was wearing flip-flops.

She was found tangled in a luggage conveyor belt., According to the fire department.

According to the Associated Press, security camera footage only shows her walking into the scene, but does not show how she died.

“She was trying to get in at multiple points,” a source told the Chicago Sun-Times. “Her motives are unclear. She was trying to get into the secure area of ​​the airport.”
