Body of Florida mom who vanished in 2012 found in pond near Disney World, divers say

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) – A group of volunteer divers has discovered a woman's body inside a submerged car in a reservoir near Walt Disney World, solving a 12-year-old mystery about what happened to her. I believe it's solved.

diver from sunshine state sonar They said they believe they found Sandra Lemire's body Saturday while diving in a small reservoir at the Disney World exit of Interstate 4 in Kissimmee, Florida.

Lemire disappeared in May 2012. He was last seen driving the minivan he was spotted leaving a restaurant in Kissimmee.

A group of divers had been searching for Lemire in 63 bodies of water over the past year and a half. Last week, the group said on social media that they were able to narrow the search to the detention pond after receiving information from Orlando police detectives about the location of the cell phone tower where Lemire's last call came from. said in a statement.

“We discovered what appeared to be a minivan submerged in 14 feet of water,” the statement said. “Our team quickly geared up, jumped into the vehicle and ran a license plate check.”

NBC Orlando affiliate WESH reported that police have confirmed the vehicle is connected to the missing woman's case. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is working to identify the body found inside the vehicle.
