Interestingly, one of the most sought-after reservations in New York isn’t at a trendy restaurant, but rather at a health clinic.
Notable figures like supermodel Karlie Kloss, Mets owner Steve Cohen, and Knicks and Rangers executive James Dolan have already secured their spots at Neko Health, a body-scanning startup co-founded by Spotify billionaire Daniel Ek that charges $499 for its services.
The company’s first clinic in the US, located in SoHo, has reportedly accumulated a waitlist exceeding 50,000 individuals—an increase of more than 25,000 since its opening on September 24, according to information obtained by The Post.
This overwhelming level of interest has spurred plans for a second location at Brookfield Place in Battery Park, Brooklyn, which is set to open in January 2027.
“We have over 50,000 people on our waitlist in New York City, just weeks after launching our first US clinic,” Neko co-founder and CEO Hjalmar Nilsonne shared with The Post.
“That’s quite an extraordinary response, which indicates that people are looking for improved ways to understand and manage their health.”
The clinic has become popular among a variety of celebrities, athletes, and business leaders who have completed the scans.
Some of the notable visitors to the Manhattan clinic include Gucci Westman, Scott Sartiano, Ryan Serhant, Thierry Henry, Henrik Lundqvist, restaurateur Danny Meyer, Paris Hilton, and Hannah Bronfman.
Neko, which was established by Ek and Nilsonne in 2018, provides non-invasive and radiation-free health assessments, gathering data on cardiovascular, metabolic, and other bodily functions.
The entire visit, which lasts about an hour, involves a review of the results with a physician. This approach is part of the company’s goal to make preventive healthcare more accessible, without the high costs typically associated with traditional executive health screenings.
The first US clinic, spanning 11,000 square feet at 300 Lafayette St., features two floors and seven scan rooms.
Neko already operates clinics in Sweden and the UK, where it focuses on detecting potential health issues before they manifest as symptoms.
The company’s recent growth comes on the heels of a $700 million funding round in July, which reportedly valued the privately-held entity at nearly $7 billion.
Neko has attracted a high-profile list of investors, including Mark Zuckerberg, Ari Emanuel, Maria Sharapova, Alexis Ohanian, and Jimmy Iovine.
The upcoming Brookfield Place facility will offer more capacity than the SoHo site, as Neko aims to meet the increasing demand from New Yorkers looking for appointments.
“Brookfield Place will be our second New York clinic, with even greater capacity than the first,” Nilsonne stated.
“Our aim is preventative care for everyone, and we’re moving quickly to realize that vision.”
