A Belarusian man who was known as the world's most monster bodybuilder and who ate seven meals a day has died aged 36.
The death of Ilya “Golem” Yefimchik last week was confirmed on Wednesday. Instagram account @whoisthebestbb.
The Daily Mail, citing Belarusian and Russian media, reported that the player suffered a heart attack at his home on September 6 and fell into a coma.
His wife, Anna, is believed to have been performing chest compressions on her husband while they waited for the ambulance.
“I stayed by his side every day hoping and his heart started beating again for two days but then the doctors gave me the horrible news that his brain had died,” his grieving widow told local media.
“Thank you to everyone who sent their condolences. It really warms my heart to know that I am not alone in this world and that so many people have offered me help and support.”
According to Muscle & Fitness magazine, Efimchik has been dubbed a “mutant” in the bodybuilding world because of his incredible physique: he stands 6 feet tall and weighs 340 pounds.
The disciplined athlete claimed he maintained his 25-inch biceps through a “Mass Monster” diet of up to 16,500 calories a day.
His seven meals each day reportedly included more than five pounds of steak and over 100 pieces of sushi.
