Bodycam footage has surfaced showing Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders being pulled over for speeding by a police officer in Ohio.
Records indicate that Sanders, son of NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, was cited for speeding on two occasions in June. In the latest incident, which occurred on June 17, he was reportedly driving at 101 mph in a 60 mph zone. Interestingly, another vehicle was involved, driven by a woman named Jasmine Hammond, who was clocked at 92 mph.
The officer can be heard in the footage telling Sanders, “I got you at 101 mph. I got her for 92.” Hammond received just a warning, as the officer decided to let her go, mentioning, “I’m going to give your girl a break.”
Following the initial speeding ticket on June 6, Sanders missed an appearance related to that incident on June 13. Amidst these traffic troubles, he participated in a charity softball game hosted by teammate David Ng-hyuk on Thursday.
Sanders acknowledged his mistakes during an interview, saying, “I personally made some wrong choices and I can own them… It’s not a great choice. …I learned.”
Despite being a standout at Colorado, many had projected him as a first-round draft pick, yet he ultimately went 144th overall to the Cleveland Browns. His fall came after the New York Giants traded up to select another quarterback, Jackson Dart. By the next day of the draft, several other quarterbacks had also been chosen ahead of him, including Tyler Schaff and Jalen Millow.
Concerns about Sanders’ character had circulated leading up to the draft. An anonymous assistant coach labeled his interview as the “worst official interview” he’d experienced, criticizing his body language and blaming of teammates. Another executive echoed these sentiments, stating their lack of success in connecting with Sanders during their discussions.
After the draft, analysts pointed out that Sanders had skipped a crucial production meeting with CBS, which is typically held before games. This meeting was rescheduled after he was treated for an injury, yet he failed to attend the new appointment.
Sanders, who is competing for the starting quarterback position with the Browns, faces tough competition. Joe Flacco brings the most experience to the team, while Kenny Pickett has also started games in the NFL. Both Sanders and Dillon Gabriel were drafted by the Browns in 2025, alongside Deshaun Watson, who is aiming for a strong comeback this season after dealing with injury issues.
