Bodycam video shows Florida man ambush police, Ron DeSantis responds

A disturbing video shows the moment a Florida man mowed down two members of Congress in an “ambush” attack, police said. Officers were seriously injured, and one officer may require a leg amputation.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said officers responded to a 911 call from a mother who said she feared her son was violent. Her mother allegedly told police that her son, Ralph Boosie, was suffering from a mental health crisis.

Shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday, officers arrived at a residence in Brandon, Florida. Busey was arrested and charged with three counts of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer.

“There’s no other way to explain this other than an ambush,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “Our deputies put their lives on the line every day to protect this community, and what happened today was truly sickening.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said he and his wife, Casey, were “praying for the members of Congress who were seriously injured in the Brandon ambush.”

“We will not tolerate attacks on Florida law enforcement officers,” DeSantis said. declared. “The cowards who brutally attacked these members of Congress will be punished.”

Corporal Carlos Brito, 39, and Deputy Manuel Santos, 31, suffered serious injuries and are being treated at Tampa General Hospital.

Santos has broken bones on both sides of his foot and has extensive ligament damage that will require surgery.

Brito’s injuries are so severe that his leg may have to be amputated. Brito’s leg was crushed between two cars, and part of his femur was stuck in the car. Surgeons requested that the bones be removed from the car and taken to hospital to save the leg.
