Boebert discusses demand for Epstein special prosecutor: 'People are upset'

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), a staunch ally of President Trump, emphasized the necessity for special advisors to delve into the management of files related to the controversial investor Jeffrey Epstein.

Boebert, who was among the first to advocate for an independent inquiry, stated the importance of allocating the necessary time and resources for the investigation while maintaining focus on the president’s achievements.

“People are really frustrated. Honestly, I’d like to know if there’s additional information out there,” Boebert said in an interview on NewsNation’s “On Balance.”

She added, “I’m not exactly sure what [Attorney General] Pam Bondi has seen, or if there are things she’s missed. Perhaps we need another set of eyes.”

“But, we can manage multiple priorities simultaneously,” the Colorado Republican told the host. “We can also celebrate secure borders and prioritize America’s energy independence.”

Boebert cautioned against allowing Epstein’s files to sidetrack what she views as a more pressing agenda from the White House.

“People crave information about this; it’s a significant issue. As you mentioned, President Trump didn’t center his campaign around this,” Boebert pointed out. “Right now, we have a more secure border than the list of deceased offenders.”

“Should we ignore this? Absolutely not,” she continued.

In recent days, several prominent Republicans have called for increased transparency, following a joint memo from the Justice Department and the FBI stating Epstein died by suicide.

Supporters of Trump within his administration have long propagated conspiracy theories regarding Epstein’s death, alleging a cover-up by the government that implicates high-profile Democrats.

Trump has rebuffed requests for further information on the matter and has shown frustration regarding the ongoing discussion about Epstein. He mentioned Attorney General Pam Bondy could unveil “reliable” evidence related to the case, while questioning why some of his supporters remain fixated on it.

During a meeting in the Oval Office with Bahrain’s crown prince, Trump reiterated that documents related to Epstein represented “horrors” pushed by Democrats. Epstein, who faced sex trafficking charges, died by suicide in 2019 while Trump was in his first term.

“Some foolish Republicans have gotten caught up in misinformation, essentially doing the Democrats’ bidding,” the president remarked.
