Pandey’s management team also confirmed her death to media outlets, Sky News reportcolleagues and co-stars posted condolences on social media.
Now it turns out everything was fake.
Following his initial post on Saturday, Pandey revealed that he was still doing well and apologized for shocking his fans.
“Yes, I faked my death. Extreme, I know. But all of a sudden we started talking about cervical cancer, right?” Pandey said. “I am proud of what my passing has brought about.”
“Unlike other cancers, cervical cancer is completely preventable. The HPV vaccine and early detection testing are key. We have the tools to make sure no one dies from this disease. I have.
“Let’s empower each other with critical consciousness and ensure all women are informed about the steps they need to take.”
She then called on her followers to “deliver #DeathToCervicalCancer.”
In a later post defending her actions, she said: However, this is not just lip service; I am putting my heart and soul into the treatment of cervical cancer.

According to the World Health Organization, India accounts for almost a quarter of the world’s cervical cancer cases, with more than 200 women dying from cervical cancer every day.
Pandey, a 32-year-old reality TV star and sometime Bollywood actor, shot to fame in 2011 when he promised to strip if the Indian cricket team won the Cricket World Cup.
