Former National Security Advisor John Bolton Thinking about foreign policy With former President Trump in the White House, it would not be a nice thing for the president to serve another term.

Bolton joined CNN’s Abby Phillips to discuss Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent visit to North Korea and his meeting with Chairman Kim Jong Un.

“The Putin-Kim meeting in South Korea was a gathering of two people that Donald Trump considers his best friends in the world,” Bolton said in the excerpts. Mediaite highlights.

The meeting between the two world leaders sparked a new international partnership, with Russia and North Korea pledging to help each other and protect against enemies as Moscow continues its war against Ukraine and Pyongyang seeks to build up its military.

Bolton argued the partnership represented solidarity and was “undoubtedly a cause for concern”.

“You’re going to hear a lot of Trump supporters trying to reassure the public that a second term will be different to his first and that he’s going to have a rational foreign policy,” a former White House official said. “I think they’re deceiving the public, maybe unconsciously or hoping.”

When it comes to the possibility of Trump becoming president again, he said hope is not a strategy.

“this [is] Bolton added: “The landscape of American foreign policy will be completely different, and not for the better.”

As the Ukraine war continues and approaches two and a half years, North Korea continues to supply military equipment to Russia.

In return, Russia is providing economic aid and technology transfers, including materials that could boost North Korea’s missile and space satellite sectors. Putin has also threatened to send weapons to Kim Jong Un’s military if South Korea supplies aid and weapons to Ukraine.

The meeting has raised international concern and the alliance could prove troublesome for President Biden as he grapples with multiple foreign policy issues ahead of the election, while rival Trump has already signaled he is allied with both Kim and Putin.
