Judicial Watch has filed a federal lawsuit to force the CIA to disclose its involvement in the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, and Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton isn’t giving up.
After uncovering documents showing that the CIA had sent a team to the Capitol to respond to pipe bombs that were reportedly found near the Republican and Democratic National Committees, and that other operatives were on standby as well, Fitton believes there’s a lot more to the case than has been publicly reported.
“This was amazing news for us,” Fitton said. Blaze TV With Jill Savage, host of “BlazeNews Tonight” James Poulos “Zero Hour”.
“We were not aware that the CIA had deployed agents to the U.S. Capitol on January 6th. It must have come as a surprise to Americans that the CIA was conducting law enforcement activities on U.S. soil,” he continued.
In response to a comprehensive Freedom of Information Act request by Judicial Watch seeking records explaining what the CIA was doing at the Capitol on Jan. 6, Fitton said he was “punched in the face, so to speak” by Savage and Poulos.
“We have filed suit in federal court for the records,” he said. “The records of the law enforcement officers who were in the field working for the CIA on January 6th should be made available or made public to the American people.”
Savage noted that the lawsuit “involves six different areas”: “the shooting inside the Capitol, the individuals shot inside the Capitol, the request for CIA assistance or assistance to the Capitol, bomb technicians, and accelerating or explosive devices in the post-mortem report on the events of January 6th in Washington, D.C.”
“So why are there all these different regions mentioned here?” Savage asks Fitton.
“These are areas where we believe the CIA was likely involved, and given the historical documentation that we have, particularly the explosive devices that were found, it was really specific to the CIA,” he explains.
