Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) launched a whistleblower portal to document President Trump’s administration’s (DOGE) and Office of Government Efficiency (OGE) efforts to overhaul initiatives.
The portal, launched Friday, aims to gather information from private and civil servants about DOGE’s work.
“Whistleblowers play a crucial role in ensuring congressional oversight,” the portal’s webpage says. “Ranking member Merkley is interested in information on public and private sector waste, fraud, and abuse.”
Democrats in Congress have criticized the advisory committee, overseen by technology billionaires and Trump adviser Elon Musk.
“The president is not above the law. We must hold him accountable,” Merkley said in a statement.
The portal was launched a day after Trump signed an executive order ending the Department of Education.
A colleague at the Chamber of Commerce believes workers have shared concerns about alleged abuse and misconduct in the current administration.
Senate minority leaders Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Gary Peters (D-Mich.) launched the whistleblower portal in early February.
“Senate Democrats remain committed to uncovering the truth, even as Senate Republicans refuse to fulfill their constitutional obligation to provide checks and balances.
Schumer and Peters, ranking members of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, said whistleblowers are essential in uncovering federal fraud and abuse.”
“If you have information you want to share about fraud, abuse of power, or threats to public safety, we are ready to support you in your pursuit of truth and justice,” writes the pair.
Oka reached out to the DOGE spokesman for comment.
