Missouri AG Andrew Bailey Appointed as Deputy Director of FBI
Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has been invited to serve as the additional deputy director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation by Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel.
Previously, Bailey acted as co-director alongside Associate Director Dan Bongino, where he contributed significantly during his tenure. “We are excited to welcome Andrew Bailey as co-director at the FBI,” Bondi noted. “He’s a recognized state attorney general and a decorated war veteran, and his dedication will be an invaluable resource as we work towards President Trump’s objectives.”
FBI Director Kash Patel emphasized the importance of talented leadership within the agency. “The FBI, as the premier federal investigator under the Justice Department, is committed to bringing forth the best talent to fulfill the promises made by President Donald J. Trump,” he mentioned, asserting that Bailey would play a crucial role in their mission.
As Missouri Attorney General, Bailey founded the Anti-Trafficking Task Force in response to over 1,100 reported cases and made strides by clearing backlogs of forensic evidence from sexual assault kits, which is essential for improving prosecution efforts. His office has also supported the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department in civil suits and consistently backed law enforcement initiatives. Moreover, he has been recognized by the Missouri’s Brother Police Order.
Bailey also reported a significant increase in criminal prosecutions, specifically a 133% rise in court-level cases. He has called for accountability among civil servants, urging the resignation of a sheriff due to financial mismanagement and announcing charges against a St. Louis County enforcement officer for election law violations.
Reflecting on his new role, Bailey expressed gratitude for the chance to serve, stating, “I am truly thankful for the opportunity with the FBI. I appreciate President Trump, the U.S. Attorney General, and Director Patel for their commitment to making America safer.”
According to senior officials, President Trump seeks to ensure that those committing crimes are prosecuted, illegal immigrants are deported, and that corrupt politicians face consequences. “We need all hands on deck for these critical goals,” an official commented, adding that Bailey will provide trustworthy experience to help advance their agenda.
Under Patel’s leadership, the FBI has made substantial progress, conducting 19,000 arrests nationwide, doubling the total from 2024. Among these, 1,600 were for violent crimes against children, and investigations into foreign terrorist organizations led to 1,000 arrests.
Patel’s team has also rescued 4,000 child victims, marking a 33% increase. Additionally, large quantities of illegal substances, including 1,500 kilos of fentanyl and 6,300 kilos of methamphetamine, have been seized. Reports indicate that murder rates are on track to hit historic lows.
Amid this expanding law enforcement agenda, Bondi and the FBI are focusing on Washington, D.C., with nearly 200 arrests made recently, including suspects of murder and illegal gun crimes. Those apprehended include two alleged murderers, 17 suspected drug traffickers, and various others involved in serious offenses.
