Bondi indicates she intends to remain in her role, avoids questions about Epstein.

Bondi suggests she has no plans to step down, dodges Epstein questions

Attorney General’s Focus on Fentanyl Amid Epstein Questions

On Tuesday, Attorney General Pam Bondy sidestepped questions about her handling of the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) approach to Jeffrey Epstein’s files. Instead, she emphasized the administration’s commitment to combating the fentanyl crisis.

“As long as the president wants me here, I’ll be here,” Bondy stated to reporters at an evening event, reiterating her loyalty to the administration.

When pressed about inconsistencies between recently published DOJ-FBI memos, which concluded Epstein’s death was a suicide and denied the existence of a “client list,” she seemed hesitant. Some of her earlier comments hinted at pending reviews, raising eyebrows among the press.

Bondy quickly shifted the dialogue back to the opioid epidemic. “This is about fentanyl overdose throughout our country today and people who have lost their loved ones to fentanyl,” she insisted. “That’s the message we’re here to convey today. I’m not discussing Epstein.”

There’s been notable pressure from both sides of the aisle for the Trump administration to release Epstein’s files or clarify further. Some conservative voices have even called for Bondy’s resignation in light of the situation.

Despite the turmoil, the White House continues to support her. White House Press Chief Carolyn Leavitt clarified Bondy’s earlier comments, indicating she was referring to documents related to Epstein’s crimes, and stated it was up to Bondy to elaborate further.

President Trump, defending Bondy’s commitment and work ethic, expressed his support over the weekend, stating, “They’re all chasing Attorney General Pam Bondy, who’s doing a great job! We’re one team, MAGA. I don’t like what’s going on.”

When asked on Tuesday about the Epstein case, Trump suggested Bondy should release what she deems trustworthy. He also encouraged his supporters to move beyond the topic, labeling the Epstein saga as “boring.” “I don’t know why the Jeffrey Epstein case is interesting to anyone. It’s pretty boring,” he remarked. “Only fairly bad people with fake news would want to keep things like that going.”

In light of the public scrutiny, Bondy praised the president for his backing and stressed her dedication to the administration’s goals. “We’re going to fight to keep America safe again, and we’re fighting together as a team,” she concluded on Tuesday.
