Bondi sends Justice Department agents to immigration facilities

Attorney General Pam Bondy announced on Friday night that she has sent Department of Justice (DOJ) agents to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities, stating that federal immigration officials are facing significant challenges nationwide.

Bondy expressed concerns over a rising wave of violence targeting ICE officers. “The Justice Department will not stand idly by in the face of such lawlessness,” she conveyed in a post on Social Platform X.

She detailed her orders to deploy DOJ agents to ICE sites, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding federal agents and property, as well as swiftly apprehending anyone involved in federal offenses.

This announcement follows a recent shooting incident at the Dallas ICE Field office, which resulted in the death of one detainee and left two others injured.

Protests against ICE have surged since President Trump returned to office, with various incidents occurring at agency field offices across the country.

Last week, clashes erupted between anti-ICE protesters and federal officials at a detention facility in Broadview, Illinois, where immigrants are held.

On Friday, Bondy disclosed her direction to the National Joint Terrorist Task Force to investigate and disrupt all individuals and entities engaging in domestic terrorism, particularly those perpetrating violence against federal agents.

“The Department of Justice calls for the harshest charges against those involved in these criminal groups,” Bondy stated, highlighting concerns over conspiracy, assault, and terrorism-related crimes. She claimed that these ongoing attacks aim to weaken resolve, yet they only reinforce the commitment to carrying out their responsibilities.

Bondy also urged for a collaborative approach with the Department of Homeland Security to expedite efforts in identifying, apprehending, and removing illegal immigrants from the country.

“The rule of law will prevail,” she concluded.
