Bongino states Trump will not yield on the mission against the Mexican drug cartel

Former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino emphasized that the elimination of Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera Cervantes isn’t just a one-off success. He believes President Donald Trump won’t “back down” as Mexico grapples with escalating chaos following the drug lord’s demise.

The death of the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) has led to increased violence among rival cartels throughout Mexico. The U.S. has collaborated with Mexico, offering crucial intelligence for this significant operation.

In response, cartel gunmen have launched multiple counterattacks, creating roadblocks and committing acts of arson, which have disrupted life in numerous states across Mexico.

Bongino highlighted that decisive measures are central to what he refers to as the “Donroe Doctrine.” He asserts that although violence is on the rise, Trump remains committed to dismantling the cartels.

On “The Ingraham Angle,” Bongino remarked, “I don’t understand why people think he’s joking,” adding that there’s been “no evidence” that Trump would retract his stance.

Trump recently approved attacks on suspected drug-smuggling boats in both the Caribbean and Pacific Oceans. Just last month, Mexico extradited 37 cartel members to the United States amid heightened U.S. pressure to curb drug trafficking activities.

Bongino pointed out that this approach is an essential element of the president’s foreign policy and a comprehensive pressure campaign against the cartels. He noted, “This is a whole different world… the president is not making fun of this Don Roe-ism.”

The “Donroe Doctrine” is a contemporary twist on the Monroe Doctrine, originally aimed at curbing European influence in the Americas. This recent clash with the cartels follows the U.S. capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro earlier this year.

Bongino acknowledged that while the cartels’ brutal tactics are not new, their capacity for violence has grown significantly, allowing them to “murder thousands and control entire neighborhoods.” However, he insisted that this escalation will not prevent Trump from taking necessary actions, stressing, “President Trump is not going to let people set up shop in Latin America, Cuba, etc.”
