Sen. Booker Joins Nationwide Protests Against Trump
Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) participated in a series of protests across the nation against President Donald Trump, leading a “No Kings” chant in California.
On Saturday, he shared a video where he guided a crowd of protesters in chanting “This is what democracy looks like.” The group, in return, expressed their appreciation for his support.
The clip, showcasing a mix of younger and older individuals, included some colorful inflatable costumes, such as an eagle and dinosaurs, while Booker addressed the audience and rallied them to keep going.
This appearance adds to the growing list of notable Democrats engaging in the “No Kings” protests occurring in various U.S. cities. The vibrant costumes, signs, and energetic chants characterized the day.
Earlier that same day, Doug Emhoff, the former Second Gentleman, and his son, Cole, participated in similar protests in Santa Monica. Emhoff shared a photo holding a pink sign that read, “If Kamala wins, we’ll go to brunch! No Kings,” along with a caption saying “No Kings Santa Monica.”
Across the country, video footage depicted demonstrators in inflatable costumes of frogs, cats, dinosaurs, and eagles, brandishing “No Kings” signs. Notably, in Washington, D.C., a woman urged attendees to don inflatable dinosaur outfits, while in Lansing, Michigan, some were spotted in unicorn and Cookie Monster costumes.
Several prominent Democrats, such as Chuck Schumer and Adam Schiff, commended the protests on social media. Schumer remarked on marching “shoulder to shoulder with unions and many of our fellow citizens in New York City,” while Schiff expressed gratitude to the “millions of people” who participated. Additionally, a protester in the D.C. area wore a shirt reading “I am Antifa.”
A report published on Saturday indicated that the “No Kings” movement is backed by various political action committees, including Democratic nonprofits and labor unions tied to wealthy donor George Soros. The investigation revealed that some groups involved in the protests also engaged in anti-Israel actions and called for a “global intifada.”
In response, Republican lawmakers are demanding an inquiry into the financing of these organizations. Both President Trump and congressional allies aim to explore the financial networks behind progressive protests for possible infractions of nonprofit and tax regulations.
Booker’s participation in these protests comes shortly after he stated on MSNBC’s *The Beat* that he wasn’t considering a presidential run in 2028.
