Boomer and Gio find out live on WFAN they booked wrong Randy Moss

Boomer Esiason and Greg Gianotti got into a surreal kerfuffle at the 2024 Super Bowl on Tuesday morning.

Every year, during Super Bowl week, former NFL stars flock to host cities to partner with sponsors, go from show to show, do interviews, and connect products before answering football questions.

So WFAN’s morning drive show found itself in a conundrum by booking the wrong Randy Moss.

In fact, producer Al Dukes chose NBC Sports horse racing analyst Randy Moss instead of the great former NFL wide receiver who worked on Vikings and Patriots legends.

Gianotti asked Dukes in an interview what kind of products Moss would promote, to which Dukes replied, “Something related to horse racing.”

Esiason knew Moss well, and the horse racing analyst also worked for NFL Network, so he immediately understood what had happened.

WFAN mistakenly booked NBC horse racing analyst and former NFL Network broadcaster Randy Moss, thinking he was a former NFL great.

“Are you sure this is okay?” [Randy Moss], isn’t that the other Randy Moss? Esiason asked.

Dukes seemed genuinely surprised and didn’t seem like he was doing it in the slightest.

“Are there more?” the producer answered.

Mr. Gianotti and Mr. Esiason both claimed there was an “announcer Randy Moss” in charge of the horse racing, and Mr. Dukes said, “Please tell me that’s fake.”

Mr. Dukes said he was canceling the interview, while Mr. Gianotti laughed that it would have been funnier if Moss hadn’t realized it was wrong before he went into the studio.

“I was thinking, There’s no way Randy Moss would be here.” Esiason said, noting that the studio that week is separate from the central radio row.
