Boozer twins recruiting prediction for Duke vs. Miami over college basketball’s next stars

The next elite basketball twins are about to announce their college decisions. Cameron and Kayden Boozer are five-star prospects out of Columbus High School in Miami who have won at the highest level wherever they have played. They are now choosing between: duke blue devils and miami hurricanes for where they will continue their career.

Cameron and Kayden are the sons of longtime NBA forward Carlos Boozer. Twins win 3rd straight florida He won championships with Columbus in his first three years at the school and tied for three consecutive EYBL championships in the U15, U16 and U17 divisions during the grassroots season. Add in their two gold medals with USA Basketball (Cameron was named MVP in both), and the Boozer twins have the undisputed distinction of being the greatest winners of their generation at the high school level.

Cameron Boozer will compete for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, along with elite winger AJ DiVansta. The 6'9 big man's signature skill is a great feel for the game. He has been a historically capable scorer throughout his prep career, showing the ability to punish opponents on the glass and in the post, while also being able to make three-pointers and take shots himself off the dribble. The big-bodied Boozer isn't necessarily a great athlete, but his combination of IQ, touch, size, strength, passing, and athleticism is impossible to deny.

Kayden Boozer didn't have as much luck in the genetic lottery as his older brother, but he still has legitimate size for a point guard at about 6'3. Kayden seems destined to be great, at least as a floor general in college. He has a large and strong physique, which helps him corner opposing guards when attacking. He is a quick-thinking passer who thrives on driving the team's transitions. He is improving as a shooter and could be an NBA prospect, either as a one-and-one or as a player who needs multiple years of school.

It's rare to see a high-profile freshman battle between ACC foes Duke and Miami, but either school would be a great choice for the Boozer twins. Let's break it down.

for duke

Duke University has not yet made any commitments for the Class of 2025. They're hoping Cameron and Kayden Boozer will be first.

Cameron Boozer will immediately take over as Duke's starting power forward and primary offensive option, replacing Cooper Flagg, who is highly likely to be selected No. 1 overall in the 2025 NBA Draft. Boozer and Flagg have had great battles throughout their high school careers, and each seems destined to become big stars in the NBA. Flagg is more athletic and a better defender, while Boozer is a more polished scorer. Duke head coach John Scheier will have no problem tweaking his scheme to accommodate Boozer's unique talents.

Cameron Boozer would fit right into the lineage of Duke University scoring forwards with elite NBA pedigrees. From Jabari Parker to Brandon Ingram to Jayson Tatum to Zion Williamson to Jaylen Johnson to Paolo Banchero to Flagg, Duke always has a roster of freshman wing/forwards destined to be top picks in the draft. It looks like there is. It makes a lot of sense for Boozer to be next.

It's hard to say how Duke's guard situation will change next year in terms of Caden's fit in the backcourt. Duke has Tyrese Proctor, Caleb Foster, Isaiah Evans and Darren Harris in its backcourt this year. Proctor is currently a junior and Foster is a sophomore, so theoretically both could return next year. It wouldn't be surprising if one of those players turned pro, opening up the possibility for Kayden to start. Player movements in college basketball are so fluid these days that making roster predictions this big feels pointless.

Did I mention that the twins' father, Carlos Boozer, was a big star at Duke at the time? From a legacy standpoint, Duke checks so many boxes.

for miami

Miami accomplishes a few things with this decision against Duke. Choosing the Hurricanes would allow the Boozer brothers to build their own legacy. That would allow them to stay at home in Florida. It's also likely Caden will be guaranteed a starting job, which he may or may not get at Duke.

Miami was one of the schools that was at the forefront of making big trades during the NIL era. Remember when Nijel Pack wins $800,000 in NIL Was it difficult to move to Miami? These days, top transfers receive $2 million a year while Puck is still on the Hurricanes' roster. Duke is clearly an NIL monster in its own right, but I feel Miami can be competitive in the market if it means acquiring a superstar like the Boozer Twins from day one.

At Duke, Boozers will continue a lineage that includes his father and many other star players. In Miami, they could legitimately be the biggest basketball stars in program history. The Hurricanes have never won a national championship, but they reached the Final Four as a No. 5 seed two years ago. This program can still win even in the twilight of head coach Jim Larrañaga's career.

The city of Miami seems to mean a lot to the Boozers. As a Chicago Bulls fan, I remember It was the first time I saw them rooting for the Heat on TV, even though their father played in Chicago.. They continued to attend private high schools in the city without transferring to other academic programs. There's nothing better than working for your hometown. Contributing to the Hurricanes gives Boozers the opportunity to do just that.

Miami has already lost most of its team this offseason. They're more or less building it from the ground up, with five-star guard Jalil Beshear leading a strong recruiting class. The speculation here is that Bashear will go to the NBA after this season. With Pac and star wing Matthew Cleveland ineligible after this season, the Hurricanes' roster will likely be largely a blank slate in recruiting and the transfer portal. Scoring guard Jalen Blackmon (transfer from Stetson) should return, and freshmen shooting guard Austin Swartz (No. 65 in his class) and winger Isaiah Johnson-Alig (No. 145 in his class) should also contribute. But both Boozers will obviously have big roles if they go to Miami, and they'll be leaders on the team right away.

Boozer Twins recruitment prediction

I'll go with Duke. It will be difficult to beat the Blue Devils when it comes to adding players. Cameron Boozer, in particular, seems destined to continue the lineage of scoring forwards with Duke's stud freshman, and Kayden is good enough to at least earn a spot in the rotation right away.

The initiative will take place on Thursday, October 10th. You'll soon find out.
