Boston hockey mom facing charges for assaulting refs after game

This doesn't hurt the reputation of “hockey mom.”

An anonymous woman is facing criminal charges for allegedly assaulting two umpires at her son's high school hockey game at the Foxboro Sports Center in Foxborough, Massachusetts, earlier this month. Foxboro Police Department said in a statement. Thursday.

The incident allegedly occurred during a game between Mansfield High School and Taunton High School. According to NBC Bostonadding that it was the mother of one of the Taunton players.

“An initial investigation by responding officers revealed that two game personnel were assaulted by an individual believed to be the parent of one of the players,” authorities said in a statement.

“The follow-up investigation consisted of interviews with witnesses, two referees, and observation of match video and cell phone video.

“As a result of this investigation, one person will be summoned to Wrentham District Court at a later date on multiple criminal charges. will not be made public until a decision is made.”

Arena footage obtained by NBC Boston shows the woman take to the ice as the game ends, and two referees skating towards her moments later.

However, the actual assault that is said to have occurred immediately afterward is not shown in the footage.

Mike Ober, a spokesman for the National Ice Hockey Officials Association, told the outlet that the woman waited more than five minutes for officials to leave the ice and head to the locker room.

“Thankfully, no one was hurt in this situation,” Mike Ober, a spokesperson for the National Ice Hockey Officials Association, told the program.
