A witness called police Thursday night and reported finding a human head in a box on a sidewalk on Chicago's West Side. Fox 32 Chicago first reported.
The incident happened Thursday when officers were called to the 2600 block of West Taylor Street just before 6 p.m.
Witnesses told officers they were walking on the sidewalk when they discovered the box containing the victim's remains, Chicago police told FOX 32.
Police said the cause of the victim's death is unknown and the investigation is ongoing.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office also confirmed it had received a report of human remains, Fox 32 reported.
