Controversial boxer Ryan Garcia was arrested on Saturday at a luxury Beverly Hills hotel on suspicion of felony criminal damage to property, according to reports.
Garcia, 25, was seen wearing a helmet as he was escorted by police out of the lobby of the Waldorf Astoria hotel after the afternoon incident. TMZ reported.
Garcia’s lawyer told the outlet, “The boxer was transported by BHPD to a local hospital for examination and treatment and, as far as we know, may be charged with public intoxication.”
Under California law, any damage over $400 is considered a felony.
According to TMZ, the former WBC interim lightweight champion was also reportedly under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Garcia was peacefully escorted out of the hotel without incident.
Authorities reportedly examined Garcia on Wednesday after his family expressed concerns about the boxer’s health.
