Boy, 13, gunned down in NYC made frantic last phone call before dying: sources

A 13-year-old boy shot late Thursday in Brooklyn frantically called his mother to tell her he had been shot before collapsing on the sidewalk and dying, officials told the Post.

Troy Gill was shot about 10:30 p.m. about three blocks from his Crown Heights home in an apparent attack by a rival gang, officials said.

Officials said the boy was returning to his neighborhood in an Uber with a friend after watching a Brooklyn Nets game at Barclays Center.

Sources said he was shot four times in the chest and upper body at Bergen and New York streets, then called his mother to tell her he had been shot and was running toward the nearby Brooklyn Children’s Museum. .

The seriously injured boy, who authorities said was affiliated with the Drench Crew gang, ran around the corner of Brooklyn Avenue and St. Marks Street before collapsing to the ground.

He was rushed to Kings County Hospital Center, but his life could not be saved.

His death is the third shooting in Crown Heights this week.

Mr. Gill had been walking on the block where the Drench Crew regularly hung out, and sources believe he was the target of late-night violence by the opposition gang.

Police said several people called 911 after hearing the gunshots, and six shell casings were found at the scene.

The teenager’s stepfather, who did not wish to be named, told the Post that Gill was on his way home from Barclays Center when he was shot.
