A 7-year-old boy was lucky to survive after falling three stories down the side of an East Harlem high-rise and landing on a ninth-floor ledge Friday, police and neighbors said.
Police say the boy suffered only a few minor injuries after the violent incident at a 14-story apartment building on East 131st Street near Harlem River Drive.
The boy was playing on the 12th floor balcony around 11 a.m. when he jumped to the ninth floor, screaming for help until neighbors came to help.
“He said, ‘I slipped,'” one woman told the Post.

“What happened was his brother-in-law saw him fall and ran out onto the terrace and grabbed him as he was hanging off the ledge,” witness Brianna McCall said. told WABC TV.
“It was really intense because he could have died, so my brother-in-law took him off the ledge and brought him back to the house and laid him down in the house,” she added.
According to police, the boy was taken to a metropolitan hospital, where his condition is said to be stable.
