Braylon Allen Shines in Return for Jets

After an 11-month absence from the field, running back Braylon Allen made a triumphant return, and it sounds like he made quite an impression.

His 31-yard touchdown run against the Buccaneers on Friday night was a major highlight, offering hope and excitement for the Jets’ future. Allen is back after suffering a season-ending knee injury that sidelined him just four games into last year.

Teammate and tight end Jeremy Ruckert was among those thrilled with the touchdown and played a crucial role by throwing a significant block. It’s clear he’s ecstatic to have Allen back on the field.

“We were really happy for him, but honestly, it didn’t catch us off guard,” Ruckert mentioned. “We see how hard he works behind the scenes and how well he maintains his body. It’s great to see his dedication pay off. He’s definitely on the right track, and I have a feeling he’s going to be a key player for us this season.”

If Allen stays healthy and performs well, he could create a powerful tandem with Breece Hall. Coach Aaron Glenn expressed a desire to have a strong trio at running back, including Hall, Allen, and Isaiah Davis.

“You all saw how he can push through holes, right?” Glenn said. “He was getting his feet moving and running vertically, which shows his speed. It was really encouraging to see that. I’m just really happy for him. We’re all rooting for him.”

Center Josh Myers added that the excitement on the sideline was palpable when Allen broke free for his run.

“Everyone here knows the kind of player he is and what he’s capable of,” Myers said. “It’s been a really tough year for him with the injury. There’s honestly nothing worse than being out during a season, especially now. You could feel the team’s excitement—it was just incredible. He deserves this; he’s a great person.”

In other news, NT T’Vondre Sweat has completed his medical evaluation and is set to be taken off the non-football injured list. He hasn’t participated in training camp due to a hamstring issue, but there’s optimism he’ll be back at practice next week. Sweat was brought on board through a trade with the Titans in March and is expected to play a vital role in the Jets’ defensive lineup.
