Brandon Clarke's teammates remember the Grizzlies forward who has passed away

Brandon Clark’s teammates from the Grizzlies took to social media on Tuesday to share their grief following the news of his death at 29.

The announcement sent shockwaves through the NBA, particularly in Memphis, where Clark was held in high regard among his peers.

“No matter what challenges he faced during my time in Memphis, he always showed up with a smile and lit up the locker room. An truly inspirational guy,” wrote Jalen Wells, who played for the Grizzlies for the past two seasons, on his Instagram Story.

“Memphis won’t be the same without you.”

Clark had been a vital part of the Grizzlies for the early years of his career but suffered a torn left Achilles tendon in March 2023.

He only participated in six games during the 2023-24 season, and the following year he played 64 games before encountering a serious PCL injury to his right knee.

Later, he missed the start of the 2025-26 season, returning for just two games in December before being sidelined again with a calf injury.

“One of my favorite teammates and people ever. Fly high, King,” posted Lamar Stevens, who was with the Grizzlies from 2023 to 2025.

Ja Morant, another star player in the same 2019 draft class as Clark, expressed his sorrow on Instagram.

“This hurts B.C.,” he wrote. “We love Brosky. He passed away too soon.”

Kyle Anderson, who shared time with Clark in Memphis, shared his own heartbreak. “I love you so much, brother. I wish I could be there for everyone who is hurting right now,” he said.

Authorities are looking into Clark’s death as a potential drug overdose.

On April 1, Clark had been arrested in Arkansas on various charges including trafficking in a controlled substance and fleeing from law enforcement at high speed.
