Brandon Nimmo slips in hotel room, cuts forehead in Mets calamity

The rising Mets faced an injury crisis ahead of their series against the Nationals when manager Carlos Mendoza said Brandon Nimmo slipped and cut his forehead in his hotel room while going to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

The outfielder immediately contacted the team trainer and was examined at a hospital on Tuesday before the game.

The test came back negative and Nimmo does not have a concussion, Mendoza said, but Nimmo was not in the lineup for the series opener.

“I think we got lucky there,” Mendoza said before the game.

But this is Nimmo’s second concussion crisis of the season.

After a prolonged slump after being hit in the head by a pitch, the Mets sent him for a concussion test, which also came back clean.

Nimmo, who hit his 100th career home run during Sunday’s loss to the Mets, has finally put that tough period behind him and enjoyed a productive June.
