Brantley Gilbert Reflects on Faith and Forgiveness After Charlie Kirk’s Death
Brantley Gilbert, the country music star, has expressed struggles with his faith and emotions following the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk. In a recent interview, he shared how the anger stemming from Kirk’s “meaningless” murder has been tough to navigate, especially in today’s chaotic times.
“Honestly, I’m just trying to find my way,” he admitted. “My wife has urged me to reconnect with my faith. Kirk was a big encouragement for me during this period in my life. My wife, she has a more steadfast faith. I, on the other hand, am carrying a lot of anger right now.”
Gilbert acknowledged the teachings of Christianity, which guide him to embrace love and compassion. Yet, he finds himself grappling with those ideals. “I’ve always aimed to uplift veterans, active service members, and kids. It’s crucial for us to keep our message positive,” he commented.

Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was tragically killed at the age of 31 during an event in Utah. Gilbert described the overwhelming emotions he felt while leading a moment of silence for Kirk during his performance in Maryland. “The silence felt powerful,” he noted. “But what does freedom of speech mean in moments like these?”
He reflected on the increasing political polarization that makes it harder to rise above anger. “We keep seeing leaders promoting violence, and it leads many of us to feel frustrated. We’re often left saying we don’t support this behavior,” he said.
Despite the challenges, Gilbert recognizes the importance of addressing these feelings. “I know I’m supposed to pray for those who seem lost in their hatred, but I haven’t reached that point yet,” he shared. “There’s a heaviness in knowing that innocent lives are disrupted, families are shattered.” He added, “It’s a frustrating reality that drives me further away from some conversations.”
