Incident at Texas Fast Food Restaurant Leads to Arrests
A troubling scene unfolded at a Whataburger in San Antonio, Texas, where a brawl erupted and seven individuals were taken into custody. This incident was reportedly triggered by a dispute over mixed-up orders.
Officers from the San Antonio Police Department responded to the location around 3 a.m. on October 5, after receiving calls about an ongoing assault. A video circulating on social media and shared by Rebecca Noel captures the chaotic exchange. It shows one woman punching another on the counter, shortly followed by a man in a gray shirt getting involved, among others.
The sequence escalated as more individuals joined the fray, culminating in a scene where several men were seen pummeling one man on the ground until he curled up in a fetal position. Disturbingly, at least three bystanders recorded the turmoil, while one woman attempted to intervene, shouting, “Stop. What’s going on?” She eventually called the police, who arrived and managed to diffuse the situation.
Fortunately, law enforcement indicated that no serious injuries were reported, but they charged all seven suspects with assault causing bodily harm. The arrested individuals include 21-year-olds Andres Garcia Cárdenas, Tyrone Tolliver, and Mayli Torres, as well as 23-year-old Deonte Tolliver, 57-year-old Miguel Torres, 21-year-old Andrew Lopez, and 53-year-old Veronica Valdez.
Rebecca Noel expressed concern for her family and suggested they would pursue justice, saying that the staff failed to acknowledge the initial mistake, leading to the altercation. “Instead of admitting their mistake, the staff reportedly told other customers, ‘They have your food,'” she recounted. This misunderstanding quickly escalated into a violent situation.
In response, Whataburger stated that the safety of its guests and employees is a priority and that the company is cooperating fully with authorities concerning the ongoing investigation.
