Braylon Edwards rescues 80 year old from near-death beating

Former NFL wide receiver Braylon Edwards took a move that may have saved the life of an elderly man who was being beaten over a disagreement in the locker room of a Michigan YMCA.

Edwards said she was in a locker room at a YMCA in Farmington Hills, Michigan, when she heard a 25-year-old man and an 80-year-old man arguing, which quickly escalated.

The unidentified 25-year-old boy initially fled on foot, prompting police to direct local schools to put them on lockdown as a precaution until the suspect is located. The suspect was arrested and remains in custody, but no further information was available from local media outlets.

The victim is recovering in the hospital, and Edwards said he hopes to see him when he is released.

“People go to exercise, have fun, and live to be 80 years old. They don’t expect something to potentially kill them,” Edwards commented, adding that the need to protect the elderly emphasized. “My mother, my grandmother, my father…the moment I get home, it’s them that I think about.”
