Brazil’s Ana Carolina Vieira opens up after 2024 Olympics expulsion

One Olympian set to compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics is speaking out following his controversial exclusion from the Paris Games.

Brazilian swimmer Ana Carolina Vieira, 22, has spoken out about being asked to leave the Paris site after walking out of the Olympic Village.

“My stuff is there [in the Olympic Village]”I went to the airport in shorts,” Vieira says. According to the Daily Mail“I had to open my suitcase at the airport. I was in Portugal, going to Recife and then on to Sao Paulo.

“I’m powerless. I can’t access anything, I can’t talk to anyone. They told me to contact the COB channel, but how do I contact them?”

Vieira also said he was working on the matter with his legal team but felt “at ease.”

Vieira and her boyfriend, fellow Brazilian swimmer Gabriel da Silva Santos, reportedly left the Olympic Village on the evening of July 26 for a trip to Paris.

The next day, Vieira competed in the second qualifying round of the women’s 4 x 100m freestyle relay with her Brazilian teammates, with Brazil placing seventh.

Vieira was subsequently questioned by the Brazilian Olympic Committee about his behaviour the previous night, but the Daily Mail reported that he had provoked officials, behaving in a “disrespectful and aggressive manner”, to the point of demanding that he leave Paris altogether.

The commission alleged that Vieira had behaved in a “disrespectful and aggressive manner.”

Despite this, da Silva Santos was not sent off but simply received a warning.

The 2024 Olympics will mark Vieira’s second career appearance, having also competed in the 4x100m freestyle relay in Tokyo, though it will be a much shorter one than his first.
