Break-in at Trump campaign office — unidentified suspect still at large

Over the weekend, a suspect was caught on camera breaking into former President Donald Trump’s Virginia campaign office.

The suspect is from Northern Virginia. Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office As a “Caucasian adult male wearing black clothing, a black hat and a backpack.”

A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said surveillance video showed the suspect entering the building and wandering around the office. The sheriff’s office was contacted about the break-in around 9 p.m. Sunday.

The suspect remains at large and photographs of him have been released for identification purposes, and can be seen opening and placing items inside his backpack, but authorities have not confirmed if anything was stolen from the office.

“It is unusual for the offices of any political campaign or party to be broken into,” Sheriff Mike Chapman said.

“We are determined to identify the suspect, investigate what led to this incident and determine what was stolen and what was left behind,” Chapman added.

The campaign office also serves as the headquarters for the Virginia 10th District Republican Committee.

Reports of the intrusion came just a day after the campaign confirmed that an Iranian group had hacked its internal communications in June. Blaze News As previously reported, as part of the breach, the hackers released a 271-page document listing publicly available information about vice presidential running mate Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), including a “potential weakness” in the document that listed Vance’s previous criticism of Trump. The hackers also leaked portions of a similar report about an investigation into one of Trump’s top running mates, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).

Microsoft released a report on Friday stating that “groups linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) sent spear phishing emails to senior members of the presidential campaign in June,” but did not identify which presidential campaign was targeted.

“These documents were illegally obtained from foreign sources hostile to the United States and were intended to interfere in the 2024 election and sow chaos throughout the Democratic electoral process,” Trump campaign spokesman Steven Chang told Politico.

“Iran knows that President Trump will end their reign of terror just as he did during his first four years in the White House,” Chang added. “Media and outlets that reprint documents and internal communications are following the orders of America’s enemies and doing exactly what they want.”
