We will discuss yesterday’s efforts to introduce a motion to vacate the chairmanship of Mr. That effort ultimately failed when House Democrats voted in favor of Greene’s motion to keep Johnson as speaker, but former Speaker Kevin McCarthy followed suit last October. House Democrats did not take this action when he was targeted for expulsion.
What does it mean that Speaker Johnson owns the gavel to Democrats? He is essentially in a “co-speaker” position with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) Is it there?Was this what Jeffries meant? Said Last Sunday, CBS News reported that Democrats “continue to provide the majority of votes needed to get things done, so we are effectively governing as if we were in the majority.”
