President-elect Trump announced Sunday that he has selected Brendan Carr to chair the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) starting in January.
Carr, currently the FCC's senior Republican commissioner, was first appointed to the commission by President Trump in 2017. In a statement released Sunday night, President Trump praised Carr and said he was “unanimously confirmed by three members of the United States Senate.” times. ”
“His current term ends in 2029, and in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments, I will appoint him permanent chairman,” President Trump wrote.
The Republican leader went on to call Mr. Carr a “free speech warrior” who “has fought against regulatory laws that have stifled American freedoms and held back the economy.”
