Brewers shortstop Willie Adames told Jesse Winker, “I want you to say something back,'' after the two were seen engaging in the top of the second inning of the Mets' Game 1 win in the National League Wild Card Series. “It's just that,” he admitted.
It may be up to lip readers and psychics to figure out what it was, but Adames expressed surprise at the interaction with his former Brewers teammate.
Neither player spoke in detail about the verbal abuse that appeared to have started over something Winker said after the game-tying triple.
“I don't know what was going on in his head, but he just started saying something and I just said something back. I think he's just that kind of player. is reality,” Adams told reporters.
ESPN's cameras captured the blinkers chirping from the third base side, and from another angle they also captured Adames firing at the Mets' outfielders.

The social media video also claims that Adames responded, “I'll let you know in the parking lot when the game is over.”
Winker did not elaborate on the exchange when speaking to reporters, first telling members of the media that Adames “didn't say anything” before attempting to avoid the topic.
“I don't want to talk too much about it. I just want to focus on tomorrow's game,” he said.
“I was surprised he said something,” Adames said with a little laugh. “I think that's part of his character. It was a bit of a surprise to me, but we won't back down.”
Adames and Winker were teammates on last year's Brewers team.
With Tuesday night's win, the Mets are just one win away from advancing to the National League, where they will face the Phillies.
