Brian Austin Green Reflects on Long-Lasting Friendship with Tori Spelling
Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling have had an interesting journey together. They were once very close, especially during their time on “Beverly Hills, 90210,” but over time, they drifted apart and went nearly 18 years without speaking. Green now admits that this period was largely due to his own lack of confidence.
In a recent conversation, Green shared his thoughts on their friendship and the years of silence that followed. He had planned to co-host an event with Spelling in Las Vegas, which got postponed due to her illness. Reflecting on their past, he emphasized the special bond they shared, recalling how they were the youngest cast members on the show and often did everything together. “We did all the travel, all the press—just us,” he reminisced.
“It’s wild to think we didn’t talk for nearly two decades,” he said, acknowledging the complexity of life and relationships. He added, “We were both young and perhaps not strong enough to reach out. I certainly didn’t have the confidence necessary to reconnect.” It was, in a way, easier to avoid the situation, he remarked.
After “90210” ended in 2000, Green and Spelling went their separate ways, despite having dated previously. Last year, they began to unpack their estranged history during episodes of Green’s podcast, “Oldish.” He noted that the sudden loss of connection felt heartbreaking, likening it to experiencing a divorce. They had always believed they would remain close.
As Green recounted, “Once we finally reconnected, it became clear that dwelling on the past wasn’t the way to move forward. Choosing to focus on the future felt much more valuable,” he reflected. He expressed gratitude for their friendship and how it has evolved over time.
Green praised Spelling, calling her an extraordinary person who is genuine and fiercely loyal. “Having her back in my life is truly a blessing,” he mentioned, adding how their conversations now flow more freely, especially as they navigate the challenges of post-divorce life and parenthood. He acknowledged being a bit more advanced in his healing process compared to Spelling, who recently finalized her divorce from Dean McDermott.
Green’s reflections also included the importance of enjoying life. “She’s a great reminder to laugh and have fun,” he said, appreciating how they can joke around without concern for misinterpretation. “It’s nice to have that kind of friendship,” he added with a smile.
Now engaged to Sharna Burgess, Green expressed contentment with where he is in life. He feels that the challenges he’s faced—rather than just the successes—have been his biggest teachers. He shared that he’s excited about the upcoming event they had planned and how it would bring back memories from the ’90s, a simpler time before social media dominated life.
As he wrapped up his thoughts, Green emphasized the joy of reliving fond memories, saying, “It’s about celebrating the culture and music that connected us all back then.”
