Giants’ Former Coach Interviews for Eagles’ OC Position

On Tuesday, following the announcement of their new head coach, the Giants’ previous head coach had a meeting with one of his major competitors.

Brian Daboll, who previously coached the Giants, interviewed for the offensive coordinator role with the Eagles, according to reports from a local newspaper. They mentioned that he is considered a “top target” by the team’s management.

Last week, it was noted that Daboll and Mike McDaniel were top candidates to fill this position. However, it seems that McDaniel has been taken off the Browns’ list for head coaching and is likely to become the Chargers’ offensive coordinator, as reported by ESPN on Tuesday evening.

Daboll had interviewed with the Titans directly before they appointed former Jets coach Robert Saleh as their new head coach.

Before his tenure with the Giants, Daboll had significant experience, serving as offensive coordinator for several teams, including the Browns, Dolphins, Chiefs, and Bills over eight seasons.

His record stands at 20 wins, 40 losses, and one tie, culminating in his dismissal ten games into the 2025 season.

Notably, he found considerable success in Buffalo, where he helped turn Josh Allen into one of the league’s premier quarterbacks, leading a top-10 offense statistically in his final two years there.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are looking for a turnaround after a disjointed season where they struggled for consistency post-Super Bowl victory against the Chiefs. Their offensive coordinator, Kevin Pattullo, was let go after just one season in charge.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni stated on January 13 that the decision to replace Pattullo was a tough one, emphasizing his respect for Pattullo’s contributions and leadership within the team.

As the Eagles ranked 19th in total offense and 23rd in passing last season, the search for a new offensive direction is critical.
