Former White House political adviser Brian Jack won a Republican primary runoff election on Tuesday night and will move on to the general election in November.
Jack, who previously worked for former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), received 16,915 votes, or 66 percent of the vote, while his opponent, Mike Duggan, received 8,727 votes, or 34 percent. The New York Times. Associated Press I called the race.

According to the outlet, Dugan was referring to “out-of-state financial support” for Jack’s campaign, to which Jack responded by criticizing Dugan for his previous support of a 2015 transportation bill that would have increased gas taxes to fund infrastructure and maintenance improvements.
