LSU Upsets Clemson in Tense Matchup

LSU and Clemson had a clash that might need a closer look, especially after LSU’s coach, Brian Kelly, took a swipe at Clemson’s Dabo Swinney over their performance evaluations. Following LSU’s 17-10 victory on the road, both teams found themselves scrutinized.

Swinney graded LSU’s performance at 65, while he gave Clemson a lower score of 58. “We felt we were dominating them in the second half, so he’s either really tough on scores or maybe didn’t catch the second half,” Kelly responded, hinting at his discontent with the grading.

This matchup was one of the highlights of the weekend, with LSU rallying from a 10-3 deficit at halftime to secure the win. They made a strong comeback, proving their resolve on the road.

During the second half, LSU controlled the ball for over 20 minutes but didn’t allow Clemson to score, although the home team managed to accumulate more yards in the final 30 minutes than in the first. Clemson struggled through six possessions in the second half, failing to convert opportunities into points with missed field goals, interceptions, and turnovers.

While Swinney acknowledged the intensity of the game, he didn’t seem overly impressed with either team’s performance. “It was a tough battle right from the start. It felt like we were taking a final exam on the first day of class. We got a 65, they got a 58. None of us were exactly stellar,” he commented.

Swinney’s remarks appeared to irritate Kelly, who defended his team’s capabilities on Tuesday. Currently, LSU is positioned at third in the rankings, moving up six spots, while Clemson slipped from fourth to eighth.

Next up, Swinney’s squad will face Troy at home, and LSU is set to welcome Louisiana Tech for their home opener. “Clemson is a strong football team,” Kelly noted. “They’re aiming for playoff contention, and I hope we are, too.”
