Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) on Thursday denied Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's (R-Ga.) request for a criminal investigation into corruption charges against Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. He exclusively told Breitbart News that the charges should be “referred” to state oversight. Committee.
Kemp's inaction means Willis can continue interfering in the 2024 presidential election by prosecuting former President Donald Trump.
Mr. Green filed a complaint against Mr. Willis and his top prosecutor last week. Nathan Wade Calling for the charges against Trump to be dropped:
- Nathan Wade allegedly had an “inappropriate” relationship with Willis.
- Willis and Wade reportedly met with the Biden administration before indicting Trump in August, raising questions about whether the White House coordinated the prosecution of Trump.
Kemp, who infuriated conservatives, dismissed Greene's complaint and urged the lawmaker to resubmit it to the oversight committee. He said there is a process in state law that deals with disciplinary actions for county prosecutors.

A spokesperson for Kemp told Breitbart News that “lawmakers will have the right to refer their complaints to the Oversight Committee once the legislative process concludes this session and the committees become fully operational.” he said. “Just last year, the Georgia General Assembly established a transparent, fair and specific oversight process for district attorneys, which the governor supported and signed into law.”
The state oversight board functions like a disciplinary board with the power to remove county prosecutors from office. Like all committees, the committee moves very slowly. Greene said time is of the essence as Willis' prosecution is draining the resources of Trump and his co-defendants.
Mr Kemp, who vacationed in Davos with the world's elite on Tuesday, said the allegations against Mr Willis were serious and “compromised” confidence in the state's legal system.
The spokesperson added: “These allegations are deeply concerning and evidence should be provided promptly.” “Georgians should have confidence in our legal system and its processes, and these allegations, along with the lack of a direct response from District Attorney Willis, jeopardize that trust.”

Republicans and allies close to President Trump criticized Kemp's decision to avoid conflict. “That's bullshit,” said Mike Davis, a Republican operative close to President Trump's world. “He now has the legal authority to order a criminal investigation.”
Mr Green described the committee's process as generally a good idea, but said action against Mr Willis was a matter of urgency. “Governor Kemp and Attorney General Chris Carr need to step in and do the job they are authorized to do, which is to open a criminal investigation into Willis and Nathan Wade,” Green said. spoke exclusively to Breitbart News.
“What I'm focused on is the fact that I believe the governor and the state attorney general should exercise that authority,” she continued. “They have the power to go after state district attorneys who are abusing their power to go after former presidents of the United States.”
Greene said Trump is not the only person affected by Willis' indictment, and also mentioned his co-defendants in the case. “These people are having their money siphoned off while they have to pay their lawyers. They are under incredible stress in their own lives and their families' lives,” she said. “This is impacting real people in Georgia.”
