British lawmakers are pushing ahead with legislation that would allow transgender people to change their legally recognized gender to match their gender identity after death.
Labor Party Charlotte Nicholls MP called for changes to the UK Gender Recognition Act 2004 to allow posthumous gender changes in late January.
“My question follows on from the recent petition to change the Gender Recognition Act, which was supported by many voters,” Ms Nicholls said in an interview with the Telegraph.
“The genesis of the petition was the murder of my constituency, Brianna Gee. “His life was brutally cut short before he even reached the legal age to do so,” she added.
