British police issue series of apologies after cop threatens to arrest ‘quite openly Jewish’ Londoner

The Metropolitan Police has apologized multiple times after threatening to arrest a man who dared to identify as “very openly Jewish” in the British capital’s Aldwych district.

A police sergeant told Gideon Falter, the head of the anti-Semitic movement, on Saturday that his presence made some of the tens of thousands of pro-Palestinian radicals who took to the streets of London demanding a ceasefire make his presence uncomfortable. He told them not to cross the street because he was concerned that he might cross the street. The British government then stopped supplying arms to Israel.

The footage shows a confrontation between police and the Telegraph’s Gideon Falter. shown After attending synagogue, he was walking with friends wearing a kippa and carrying a bag containing a prayer shawl.

in one clipI hear the sergeant say. “I think there are a lot of people of all kinds of faiths and beliefs who want to go where they want to go. But unfortunately, it’s different today.”

“So you mean I can’t cross the street today because I’m Jewish?” Falter asked.

“It’s because of the march,” said the sergeant.

Mr. Falter pursued the question: “So, is it because I’m Jewish?”

“That’s part of the truth — unfortunately part of the truth,” said Sgt.

in
another clip, If you flinch, you can hear them emphasizing that they want to leave, or you can see them trying to move on. But the sergeant held him back and said, “Once the crowd is gone, I’ll be happy to escort you out. … I don’t want to antagonize anyone.”

“I just want to walk across,” Falter said.

The sergeant made it clear that he was concerned about Falter’s apparently provocative identity.

“At this point, sir, you’re quite openly Jewish,” he says to Falter. “This is a pro-Palestinian march. I’m not accusing you of anything, but I’m worried about your reaction when you attend.”

Falter was later told that he would be arrested if he remained in the area.

“If you choose to remain here, you will be arrested because you are violating the peace with all other people,” said Sgt.

The Metropolitan Police subsequently issued a double apology, first apologizing for Mr Twist’s comments and then apologizing for his initial “openly Jewish” comment.
