British star furious Chinese swimmers named in doping scandal competed in Olympics

Chinese swimmers have been at the centre of huge Olympic controversy.

China surprised the U.S. team by winning gold in the 4×100-meter medley on Sunday, the first time the U.S. team has failed to win the gold medal in the event since the 1980 Moscow Olympics (where they didn’t even qualify).

Qin Haiyang and Sun Jiajun, along with 23 other Chinese swimmers, tested positive for banned substances at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics but were still allowed to compete.

The China Anti-Doping Agency determined that the positive reaction was caused by eating contaminated food, a decision supported by the World Anti-Doping Agency.

Britain’s Adam Peaty, whose team finished fourth in the race and just missed out on a medal, questioned the legitimacy of China’s performance.

“If you touch it and you know it’s cheating, you can’t win, right?” Petey says.who won three gold medals for Great Britain during her career. “I don’t want to generalise and criticise a whole country or group of people, I think that’s very unfair.”

He then appealed to people to “do their duty” in such cases.

“To those who have to do their job — wake up and do your job.”

At the time of the controversy, which surfaced just before the 2021 Olympics (postponed by a year due to COVID-19), the World Anti-Doping Agency claimed it was “not in a position to rebut” the conclusions of China’s anti-doping investigation.
