Britney Spears has revealed that her marriage to Sam Asghari was a “fake distraction” following her estrangement from her sons, Sean Preston and Jaden James.
The pop star opened up about her strained relationship with her children in lengthy posts on Instagram over the weekend.
“We were the most fragile in my life, and human connection was what my two sons provided during those three years,” she expressed.
“I cut off calls and text messages. Denial, lots of tears, and my marriage to Sam—I thought it helped, but it felt like a fake distraction to cope with it all,” Spears elaborated.
The 43-year-old singer, known for “Gimme More,” shared her path toward healing. “I know I will feel whole again, like a child. It’s an indescribable hunger, and when I eat, it’s like tasting food for the first time,” she reflected.
“I loved my home, but there was just too much trauma there. Today, I want to thank Jesus for nourishing my body and acknowledging where I truly came from,” she continued.
Spears described her experience of food as transformative, saying, “My soul has never known such nourishment. I’m ready to indulge in cookies and cream ice cream—it’s silly, but it feels right.”

Spears and Asghari, 31, met in 2016 during the filming of her “Slumber Party” music video and tied the knot in June 2022, in a lavish ceremony surrounded by stars.
In August 2023, Asghari filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences.” This split was finalized in May 2024.
Earlier this year, the former actor confirmed he had signed a non-disclosure agreement during his seven years with Spears.
Last year, the singer, famously known for “Toxic,” reconnected with her 18-year-old son, Jaden, after enduring years of estrangement. Reports suggested they spent significant time together, hinting at a positive shift in their relationship.
Sources indicated that Jaden returned to California after staying in Hawaii with his father, Kevin Federline, and brother, Sean.
“Britney is eager to rebuild her relationship with him,” one insider shared. “Things are looking up for her.”
Spears and Federline were married from 2004 to 2007.
